DELHI DYNAMOS FC

Team Profile

The nation’s capital has often played host to prestigious international tournaments, such as the Nehru Cup and South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Championship, but has long been starved of a top-flight football team of its own. Until now. Delhi’s winning bid for a Hero Indian Super League club, subsequently named Delhi Dynamos FC, will capitalise on the city’s football fever. The club is owned by DEN Networks, one of the nation’s leading cable distributors.
Delhi Dynamos FC have a tie-up with Dutch giants Feyenoord Rotterdam, which can count Dutch legends Ruud Gullit, Giovanni van Bronckhorst, and Robin Van Persie among its alumni. Feyenoord will provide the Delhi club with technical expertise and assist in the team’s overall development. In keeping with the Dutch flavour of the club, experienced coach Harm van Veldhoven has been brought in to be the Delhi Dynamos FC manager.
Although the Oranje-inspired football will show on the pitch, Delhi fans will also fill up the 60,000-capacity Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium (New Delhi) to cheer the star power on display. The club have signed the legendary ex-Juventus and Italy striker, Alessandro del Piero, as their marquee international player. Football fans in the nation’s capital will soon be seeing the star striker and his teammates in action!
