Team Profile
One of the traditional powerhouse regions of Indian football, Goa was bound to be one of the cities to participate in the Hero Indian Super League from its inception. The city’s ISL club, FC Goa, is co-owned by electronics manufacturers Videocon, Dattaraj Salgaocar, and Shrinivas Dempo. The latter also owns I-League team Dempo SC, which has formed a close link with the ISL club.
This affiliation will be seen on the pitch, as all of the team’s 14 domestic players are from Dempo SC. Goa’s main footballing stadium, the famous Fatorda Stadium, which Dempo SC shares with Goa’s other football clubs, will play host to FC Goa’s matches, as well. Football-loving Goans now have an ISL team to add to their state’s rich footballing history!
